Entry Fee:  $175 per foal. After August 15, 2008, the class entry fee will be $350 per foal. If the foal was not entered in the show by August 15, 2008, $25 per horse post entry fee will also apply. All entries must be completed by NOON, Saturday, September 13, 2008, at which time entries close for Class 70.

Information Forms:   At show check-in, be prepared to complete a form which will include the foal’s date of birth, name of sire and dam, and registration numbers of sire, dam and foal (if registered). Exhibitors will also be asked to complete a form requesting the foal owner’s Social Security Number.

Class Routine: Class will be run as described below.  Appropriate evening attire required. Drawing for the order of entry will be held Saturday afternoon immediately after Class 69.

DNA Test:  Immediately after the class a DNA hair sample will be taken from each of the Top Ten foals and also from the 11th and 12th place foals; all samples to be submitted to AMHA for DNA verification.  MMHBF will provide blank DNA test kits and will deduct the cost of one DNA test from the prize money of each of the Top Ten foals. The testing fee deduction may be waived if the breeder-owner presents his own DNA kit at the time of sampling, the hair sample to be collected in the presence of an MMHBF representative, and the kit with sample to be immediately surrendered to the MMHBF representative.  All DNA samples will be sent to the testing laboratory within 72 hours of the close of the show. Breeder-owners who elect to provide their own DNA kits are reminded of the 120-day registration completion deadline. MMHBF will not be liable for any loss or damage that may occur if this deadline is not met.  (DNA tests may be used for registration purposes.)

Class Awards: Champion - Trophy, RaDon sheet, ribbon and $4625. Reserve Champion - RaDon sheet, ribbon and $3145. Balance of Top Ten to receive ribbons and cash prizes: 3rd - $2500, 4th - $2035, 5th - $1570, 6th - $1295, 7th - $1110, 8th - $925, 9th - $740, 10th - $555.

Bonus Prize: $18,500 Bonus Prize Money is to be divided equally among all Bonus-eligible foals (see below) that place in the Top Ten of the RaDon Weanling Spectacular.

Bonus Prize Eligibility:  Foals identified as being the result of a breeding purchased on the night of the Gala in the 2007 Stallion Service Auction  (or a repeat carry-over breeding from a prior Auction) are eligible for the 2008 Bonus Prize money.  In addition, as publicized on the MMHBF Web site, each stallion owner whose donated stallion service was purchased on the night of the Gala in the 2007 Stallion Service Auction was given the opportunity to identify one of the purchased stallion’s foals to be eligible for the 2008 Bonus Prize Money. IN ALL CASES, THE BIOLOGICAL DAM OF THE FOAL FROM THE PURCHASED OR DONATED STALLION SERVICE MUST HAVE BEEN DECLARED BY DECEMBER 1, 2007 – or by December 31, 2007 with the payment of a $100 late penalty.  Mare declaration forms for future use may be downloaded from the MMHBF Web site.

Payment of Prizes:  Prize checks will be mailed once DNA tests have been confirmed. Each prize check, minus any applicable DNA testing fees, will be made payable to the foal owner of record as identified on the entry form.

Sweepstakes Class Procedures (Class 1 and Class 70)

Sweepstakes classes will run in this manner:  A representative for each entry will meet with the show secretary at a designated time to draw numbers. If a representative is not present, one will be appointed for that entry. In the case of a representative drawing for more than 1 entry, the name of the entry being drawn for will be declared prior to the draw. This will be the order of entry for the Sweepstakes horses. The only change that will be allowed occurs when a handler has multiple entries and draws numbers that do not allow at least two horses to go between his/her entries. In this case the handler may drop down no more than 2 numbers or trade numbers with another entry. The class will begin with each entry in order drawn making an individual appearance of a maximum of 2 minutes before the judge, then leaving the ring. After the last horse has left the ring and after the judge has made the selection, the top 12 entries (or more at the discretion of the judge) will be announced and then a 10-minute break will follow. After the break, the previously-announced top entries will re-enter the ring and line up on the rail, and the judge will complete the class.
